Our computational subgroup focuses on converting observations from AFM images into meaningful numerical values. Our overarching aim is to understand how DNA structure and interactions influence functionality, as well as to develop tools that enable the quantification of key biological processes occurring at the molecular scale.
The analysis tools that we develop are integrated into our open-source toolkit TopoStats and are freely accessible to the community. Our recent work has involved harnessing deep learning algorithms to improve segmentation of complex topological structures, and the development of a pipeline for automated tracing of DNA and topology classification - you can read more about this work here.
This cluster is led by Dr. Laura Wiggins, please get in contact if you would like to know more.
